Steven Tyler knows what it feels like to be up on stage just like the contestants on American Idol. Steven Tyler also knows how to fall off of the stage as well. Unfortunately more than a few times his own addictions may have been the culprit in the falls.
One thing we do know is Steven Tyler remains at the top of his game, and has never been shy about sharing his insights with his adoring public about his demons.
Tyler was stated recently revealed that his addiction to prescription pain medicine almost destroyed his band.
“The band has never been better, I’m singing better,” Steven told the Associated Press . “It’s been beautiful and I realized when I was taking care of my problems that the band is all I really care about.”
Not only has Tyler had to overcome these problems but maintaining a positive relationship with his band during these times have been difficult as well. Steven Tyler was quoted as having said on television, “we're always fighting, we're fighting now.”
What makes Tyler a unique person is his candor with his experiences, his brutal honesty about himself and the poignant insights and hope he offers to others. One glaring message the rock star demonstrates above all else, “don't give up.”
Rehab and recovery is a lifelong process. For those suffering, know that relapse is a part of the process.
You only truly lose in this battle when you give up. If you keep trying to get well, you're still in the fight and the odds are you will eventually win. Tyler kept getting help, will continue to fight, and so should you.
